DIY Wooden Planter Box

Materials Needed:

  • Wooden planks (cedar or pine works well)
  • Screws
  • Drill
  • Wood glue
  • Measuring tape
  • Sandpaper
  • Exterior paint or wood stain

Steps:

Cut the Wood
Measure and cut the wooden planks into four pieces for the sides of the planter and one for the base. Common sizes are 12”x12” or 18”x18”.

Assemble the Box
Apply wood glue along the edges of the planks and screw the sides together to form the box shape. Attach the base using screws.

Sand & Finish
Sand the rough edges for a smooth finish. Paint or stain the planter with exterior-grade paint or wood stain to protect it from the elements.

Plant Your Garden
Fill the box with soil and plant flowers, herbs, or small vegetables.
